Thursday, November 5

Opening Reception and Dinner
With Music iin the Age of Johnson performed Dr. E. Quinn Peeper, Michael Herald and members of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra; Welcome to New Orleans by author Julia Reed; Presentation of the ESU Founders' Award to William R. Miller, OBE;
Introduction to the Conference theme, The Art of the Biography, by Dr. Peeper.

Friday, November 6

8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.   Branch Presidents Meeting
10:00 a.m. - 12:45a.m.  

ESU Annual General Meeting, Session I
With State of the Union Address by Chair Patricia Schroeder;

1:00 p.m - 2:30 p.m.  

Luncheon
With program by Christina Vella, author of Intimate Ememies: The Two World's of the Baroness de Pontalba.

3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.   ESU Annual General Meeting, Session II
With presentation on the pilot Public Speaking Program by Will Baker of ALOUD and introduction to the National WWII Museum by Dr. Ann Cook Calhoun.
6:00 p.m.   Conferees dine on their own
6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.  

Reception for National Patrons, Including Luard Scholarship Alumni
at the Hermann Grima Gallier Historic House, hosted by Chair Patricia Schroeder with music by the Last Straws

With a presentation on Georgian Scottish Cooking by
Lady Shaw Stewart, former Executive Committee Member of the National Trust for Scotland and Lecturer on fine and decorative arts. Dr. Betty Ruth Speir, author of Come Cook with Me, will supply dessert and sign books.
3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.  

Panel Discussion "The Art of the Biography"
Moderated by historian and biographer Sean Wilentz with biographers Carlo D'Este, Flora Fraser and
Carol Gelderman

5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.   Book Signing and Sale

Black Tie Optional Dinner and Jazz Ball
With presentation by Lord Hunt and entertainment by Gennifer Flowers.
